Meadowsweet

Filipendula ulmaria

With this rather unassuming plant species, which we often encounter as fragrant filler in bouquets, I now wish to present its blossoms and botanical details against a black background. In their hundreds, these tiny blossoms resemble fireworks against a black night sky.

This medicinal plant likely earned its beautiful name from its sweet fragrance following the meadow “mowing.” It was also popular as a sweetener for wine. And now, it is also a sweet sight to behold!
