Potentilla atrosanguinea

I came across this little bright-red flower along the path to the Schliersbergalm. It gets its rather unoriginal name from its (five) petals. It comes in many colors; the blood-red variety is simply the most striking.

Originally native to the Himalayas, it is a sight to behold—both from a distance and up close!
